Antarctica Cruising, Diving and Snorkelling
Antarctica remains the last vast wilderness on earth and for most of us it is the ultimate adventure destination. Whether you are a diver, snorkeler, mountaineer, climber, photographer, or just an adventurer at heart, Antarctica is most likely on your bucket list. Aurora Expeditions, a Sydney based expedition and adventure company, run trips to Antarctica, the Arctic, Scotland, the Kimberly Coast, Ecuador, Patagonia, Alaska, Papua New Guinea and Russia. Aurora partner with polar dive experts – Waterproof Expeditions – in Antarctica and the Arctic, to bring you the exciting and unique chance to get a closer look at the amazing marine life of our polar regions. Waterproof have more than 20-years dive experience in the Polar Regions and have developed the PADI Polar Diver Specialty – a unique chance to become one of the world’s few certified Polar Divers under the instruction of our own Martin McGrath. Waterproof Expedition operates the Polar Diving and Polar Snorkelling operation for Aurora on board the MV Polar Pioneer – formerly part of the Soviet hydrographic service. Built in 1985 in Finland, designed as an ice-strengthened vessel, and now converted for passenger use, it is ideally suited for expedition cruising. Lovingly known to its divers as the floating blue coffee machine, the Polar Pioneer is fitted on the aft deck with a purpose built heated shed to safely house our dive equipment. The Polar Pioneer is the smallest expedition vessel operating in the Polar Regions offering a modern and comfortable laid back atmosphere in adventurous spirits for its guests.
For those of you that may not have the experience or are just not quite sure, you may be a novice diver, or not a diver at all, you can still take the plunge and witness the fascinating underwater world by taking part in Waterproof Expeditions SNORKELING adventure. Whereas the divers have to haul their rigs half way around the world, snorkelers are provided specially designed Waterproof© Snorkel-Drysuits, gloves, and hood, as well as fins, mask, and snorkel.
